We are excited to announce that OneBio, in partnership with the Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative (CiTi) and the Centre for Proteomic and Genomic Research (CPGR), will be hosting a biotech mini incubation week, exclusive to UWC staff and students:

We will select 5 teams in the field of biotechnology (of at least 2 people) to participate in a week-long program bringing together lab and business skills, culminating in a pitching event that will see the winner receive the prestigious title of OneBio’s first ever mini incubator winner and over R50 000 in prizes!

This immersive week will start with some insights into the frontiers of biotech before getting stuck into the business fundamentals of how to start and grow a biotech business in Africa. The week will end with the teams pitching their companies/ideas to a panel prestigious judges from government and industry. The judges will pick a winner and they will receive R50 000 in lab services from CPGR with more sponsors to confirm prizes. In addition, the winning team will have a chance to reside with the CPGR/OneBio, full or in part time, for a period of up to 3 months to further develop its idea and business model.
