Assessment of the quality and integrity of isolated total RNA and/or mRNA prior to downstream analysis

Agilent Bioanalyzer kits can be used to assess the quality and integrity of total and/or mRNA samples extracted from human, mouse, rat or plant material. The system provides maximum flexibility, through analysis of all RNA types, and requires a minimal amount of sample. The Agilent Bioanalyzer can be used to optimize methods for RNA isolation so as to increase success rates, reliability and reproducibility of subsequent gene expression studies.
Isolated RNA sample concentrations are first determined using either the Nanodrop ND 1000 or a plate reader. For total RNA and mRNA analysis, samples must be in the specified quantitative ranges of 25-500 ng/µl and 25-250 ng/µl, respectively. Samples with concentrations above the recommended range can be diluted with RNase-free water prior to analysis on the Bioanalyzer. Samples, controls and chip loading are carried out as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Chips are subsequently loaded into the Bioanalyzer instrument for reading.
An analytical report will be provided detailing how the samples were processed and the data generated. Raw and normalized data will be supplied (if necessary) including nanodrop readings. A Bioanalyzer PDF file will be provided to the client at the end of the project containing sample electropherograms and gel pictures. All remaining sample will be returned to the client.
