Platform model: A series of state-of-the-art genomic and proteomic technologies are employed to create, validate and use bio- and data-analytical workflows in order to create solutions in client Research and Development projects.
Contract research model: A diverse array of platforms, technologies, workflows and expertise is utilized in an integrated fashion to create superior R&D outputs with clients and collaborators.
Open source model: A strong focus on training and skills development is maintained to create a base of empowered "omics" scientists in South Africa.
Relationships with
clients are typically built as follows:After submitting a request, scientists are guided through a structured project preparation and study design process aimed at formulating scientific questions that best utilize the available resources (biological samples, scientific expertise, technologies and workflows) in an effective, solution focussed manner. Where clients approach the CPGR with ideas for projects, the CPGR team will happily consider a collaborative approach based on the availability of resources and expertise.
This is followed by the execution of a project in accordance with a pre-designed plan, and typically involving a series of quality-controlled experimental procedures. Eventually, a set of raw data is generated and an analytical report is prepared.
In response to client requirements, raw data can be subjected to further analysis using the CPGR's internal bio-computational pipelines. Typically, data analysis is carried out in a step-wise and iterative feedback-loop manner to ensure a proper flow of information between scientists and bioinformaticians and to generate meaningful results.
The entire process is highly interactive and is designed such that maximum value can be created from biological samples and research questions.
