Data Analysis
Differential expression microarray assays produce large volumes of data, tens of thousands of transcripts may be assayed on a single slide. Careful data analysis concentrates the data set to select tens or hundreds of gene of interest. Many specialised data analysis methods are available and must be used wisely. The CPGR provides access to several software packages and works closely with the National Bioinformatics Network, specifically the NBN UCT Node, to support microarray data analysis.
Data Analysis Tools currently available at the CPGR are Acuity 4.0, TM4-Mev, GEPAS, R/Bioconductor. We have also collaborated with the NBN to develop the microarray web portal to provide information for data analysis as well as experimental design.
