The CPGR is a specialist not-for-profit contract research organisation established in South Africa to provide support and services to the life science and biotech community. The organization, based in Cape Town combines state-of-the-art information rich genomic and proteomic ('omics') technologies with bio-computational pipelines to create unique solutions for biological problems in the human health and the agri-biotech sectors.

Following a cross-disciplinary philosophy, technology application specialists, biological scientists and Bioinformaticians combine their forces to generate value for clients in academia and industry in a customer-centric manner.
The CPGR is situated in laboratories within the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IIDMM), University of Cape Town, and is equipped for:

High end mass spectrometry (ABI 4800 MALDI TOF/TOF),

2D nano-LC (Dionex Ultimate 3000),

DNA/protein microarraying (Genetix QArray2),

High density gene chip analysis (Affymetrix GS3000 system),

High-quality microarray hybridisation and scanning (Tecan 4800 Hyb Station and Tecan LS Scanner),

Real-time RT-PCR (ABI 7900, Roche Light Cycler),

High-throughput liquid handling (Tecan EVO, Beckman Coulter), and

Standard DNA/RNA analysis (Agilent 2100 bioanalyser).

Only highly skilled laboratory staff operate and maintain the equipment to ensure high levels of quality in services and projects with members of the scientific community.
