Quality Management

Quality is an intrinsic part of all endeavours at the CPGR, forming part of our service processes, product development, and communication. To generate outputs of the highest quality, the CPGR selected ISO 9001:2008 as the standard for its Quality Management System and has been certified to this standard by AfriCert. A copy of the certificate is available here for download.

The relevance of complying with the ISO 9001:2008 framework is twofold:

  1. it requires that every relevant aspect of the CPGR is covered by an adequately designed quality management system. It therefore enhances cross-talk between different areas of activity in the organisation (e.g. laboratory, marketing and accounting) and thus leads to greater cohesion and cooperation of resources;
  2. it also forms a baseline for the implementation of various other quality mgmt. systems, such as ISO 15189 (for diagnostic labs) or ISO 13485 (for in vitro diagnostic product development). These will be relevant for the development of new service or product offerings, originating internally or outside of the CPGR.

We believe that compliance with the ISO 9001:2008 standard will enhance our ability to support projects across the entire life science innovation chain, situated in the basic, translational and clinical science arenas.

Most importantly, the ISO 9001:2008 standard is premised on a culture of continuous improvement – from product development to client engagement. Therefore, it in itself requires a commitment to flexibility and adaptation – crucial organisational features in the highly dynamic area of science and business such as ours.
